Indicator Flasher Relay 2 Pin
Have you just upgraded to LED indicators and find your indicators flash heaps faster or don't flash at all?
Non load based indicator relays are a fast easy fix to this problem and if you have a 2 pin relay system you can simply unplug the old relay and plug this one in.
Is my bike a 2 pin?
Go and check it out online by searching your bike, or get down to the garage and find the current one in your bike.
What is the difference in the standard and adjustable version?
- The standard indicator relay flashes at a fixed rate.
- The adjustable relay allows you to set the flashing speed.
The adjustable relays are not necessary unless you are looking for a flasher for something other than a standard indicator setup.
Why do LED indicators blink faster?
LED bulbs are known for being more power efficient, unfortunately most bikes are designed to be used with normal bulbs. Normal bulbs have a higher "load" than LED bulbs, this means they use more power. Standard indicator relays are load based, an will only flash at the correct rate if their is sufficient load ( a powerful enough bulb). LED's use less current and often don't trigger the relay to flash at the standard rate. A non load based relay is the best way to keep your flashing regular. Our relays will blink at the same rate regardless of the load of you indicator lights.
Are there other ways to fix a fast flashing indicator?
The alternative method is to increase your load with resistors. You can keep the original indicator relay and install resistors when you install your indicators. This does solve the problem of the flash rate but the con is it means you are essentially not saving any power as the resistor increases the load by generating heat. Thus your lights will still dim during indication as the circuit is still using the same energy as a normal bulb. This method is also not as safe as the heat generated can damage fairings or wires if they not mounted correctly.
Why did we choose this?
They go hand in hand with our indicators and are something that we should be cross selling as together with indicators they are the complete package for your transition into LED's.
